Nippon Ichi Software America (NIS America) has confirmed they will be in attendance at, and be bringing two demos with them to, Japan Expo in Paris, France from 9 July to 12 July 2026.
Both upcoming titles will be playable at the NIS America booth, located in Hall 6, Allée C, C764. Visitors will also have the chance to receive a themed fan or exclusive shopping bag, with both items available in limited quantities on a first come, first served basis.
The event will mark the first time players can try The Village in the Shade, a spooky farming sim set in Kagatsu, a Japanese mountain village with a number of secrets. The game features a hand painted visual style, with players able to plant crops, customise their homestead and get to know the village’s cast of characters. While the game includes quieter activities such as relaxing by the brook, watching cherry blossoms with neighbours and walking through town, its setting also comes with a more unsettling list of rules. Players are told not to talk to strangers, not to leave the village and not to go out at night. The Village in the Shade is in development for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC.
NIS America will also offer a playable demo for Disgaea Mayhem ahead of its launch later that month. The game is a new action focused take on the Disgaea franchise, following N.A., a mercenary with a sweet tooth who takes on monsters for money after a princess demands flan. Players will be able to equip seven different weapons, each offering a different play style, including options such as swords and bows. The game also retains familiar progression elements from the series, including levelling, equipment upgrades and passing bills at the Dark Chocolate Assembly to increase damage numbers. Disgaea Mayhem is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC.
