Developer Firevolt has confirmed that WheelMates will launch for PC via Steam on 7 September 2026, with Steam Deck support and a Friends Pass available at release. The co-op driving adventure was shown during the Future Games Show, where a new release date trailer offered another look at its miniature RC car puzzles and unusual household setting. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are also in development for release at a later date.
An updated Steam demo is available now for PC and Steam Deck. This new version adds more story content, with players able to scan selected objects and discover memory cards that reveal details about the missing scientist who owns the house. A new Journal feature also lets players revisit clues and connect information they uncover. The updated demo also includes improved controls, more flexible handling settings, additional camera options including free camera control, and Steam Deck support.
WheelMates follows two tiny RC cars as they explore the maze like home and laboratory of an eccentric missing scientist. Everyday household objects become oversized obstacles, with players travelling through areas such as the Kitchen, Garage, Backyard and other closed off parts of the house. Progress depends on teamwork, with both players needing to communicate, time their actions and solve environmental puzzles together. As they explore further, they can upgrade their RC cars with gadgets such as physics based rope swings and magnetic wheels, opening new ways to reach hidden areas and continue the search for answers.
The game is designed around shared problem solving rather than performance pressure, allowing duos to work through its puzzles at their own pace. When WheelMates launches on Steam, its Friends Pass will allow two people to play together with only one copy of the game.
