In what will come as disappointing news to those who primarily get the Xbox Game Pass exclusively for access to the Call of Duty franchise since Microsoft acquired Activision, and a boon for those who may not, the company has confirmed a series of pricing adjustments for its gaming subscription services alongside a shift in how future Call of Duty titles will be distributed through the platform.
Monthly costs for Game Pass Ultimate are set to decrease from $29.99 to $22.99 (USD). Similarly, the monthly rate for PC Game Pass will be reduced from $16.49 to $13.99 (USD). These changes are subject to regional variation.
The update also marks a change in the release schedule for the Call of Duty franchise on the service. Starting this year, new Call of Duty entries will no longer be available on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass on their launch day. Instead, these titles will be added to the library during the subsequent holiday season, approximately one year after their initial release. Any Call of Duty games currently available in the library will remain accessible to subscribers.
The change currently appears to align with just Call of Duty titles, and no other first-party release from Microsoft at this time.
