Aksys Games has announced their plans to publish Over Requiemz, a dark otome visual novel inspired by The Wizard of Oz, which is set to release on Nintendo Switch in 2026.
Over Requiemz follows high school student Yuhiru, who is swept away by a mysterious tornado and wakes to find herself in the distant kingdom of Oz. Ruled by four witches and a king, the land is anything but welcoming. Branded a criminal upon arrival, she is sentenced to death and ordered to undertake a dangerous mission in a last attempt to secure her survival.
Yuhiru is forced to travel alongside four murderers on death row and a secretive supervisor of the condemned. Together, they are sent to investigate a series of eerie ruins that resemble her home, but in a ruined, monster infested state. The journey through these ruins forms the backbone of the story, blending romance elements with tension and moral choices.
As she navigates Oz and her uneasy companions, Yuhiru must make difficult decisions about who to trust and how to move forward, with her fate tied to the success of the mission and her hope of finding a way back home. The narrative aims to underline the theme that nobody is beyond redemption, regardless of how far they have fallen.
