Ocean Drive Studio and Kakao Games have officially launched Section 13, a sci-fi twin-stick shooter, on PC and PlayStation 5. A release for Xbox Series X|S is planned for a later date.
Previously known as Blackout Protocol, the game has undergone refinement during its early access period, with developers incorporating player feedback with the aim of delivering a roguelite shooter designed around high-pressure scenarios and tactical cooperation. Section 13 combines elements of tension, dark humour, and fast-paced combat in a corporate setting fraught with cosmic horror.
Set within the confines of a facility overrun by otherworldly threats, players take on the role of employees tasked with neutralising the dangers hidden inside the Section 13 compound. The game supports single-player and up to three-player online co-op on PC, with PlayStation 5 users gaining access to both online and couch co-op functionality after launch.
Section 13 seeks to offer players a variety of strategic gameplay options, encouraging players to coordinate with teammates, or use them as distractions, to survive increasingly hostile encounters. With each mission, players must adapt to new threats and make the most of their resources to progress.
