When the Nintendo Switch 2 launches on 5 June 2025, players will be able to explore its features through a dedicated title, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. Unlike Sony’s Astro’s Playroom—which came pre-installed for free on the PlayStation 5—Welcome Tour will be a paid experience available via the Nintendo eShop on launch day.
The title offers a virtual exhibition space where users can engage with tech demos, minigames, and interactive elements designed to introduce the hardware and features of the new console. Through this guided tour, players can learn about system capabilities they might otherwise overlook, aiming to offer a more complete understanding of the Nintendo Switch 2’s functions before delving into full games.
While the decision not to bundle Welcome Tour for free may come as a disappointment to some, it remains to be seen just what the game entails – and whether it is little more than a bunch of tech demos, or a more fully fleshed out game in its own right.
