Following a series of delays, Ubisoft has announced that pre-orders are now available for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. Set in Feudal Japan, the game is scheduled for release worldwide on 20 March 2025. It will be available on Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, Windows PC (via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store), and Macs with Apple silicon via the Mac App Store. This will be the first release to discontinue support of last-generation platforms (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One), so those hoping to continue the adventures of the Assassin’s and their Templar counterparts will need to upgrade, or pivot to a new platform.
Developed by Ubisoft Québec, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will transport players to 16th-century Japan, exploring the intertwined stories of Naoe, a skilled shinobi Assassin from the Iga Province, and Yasuke, the historical samurai legend. The narrative focuses on their individual journeys and shared destiny during Japan’s turbulent unification era. The newly released story trailer highlights a war-torn land disrupted by internal conflict and foreign influences, with Daimyo Oda Nobunaga’s ambition playing a key role in shaping the heroes’ paths and the emergence of a new Creed.
Multiple editions are now available to pre-order, including:

This edition includes the base game, providing players with the full Assassin’s Creed Shadows experience as they explore Feudal Japan through the eyes of Naoe and Yasuke. Priced at $109.99 AUD for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and $99.95 AUD for PC and Macs.
Digital Deluxe Edition
The Digital Deluxe Edition enhances the base game with exclusive in-game content, including the “Sekiryu Dual Pack” (weapons and gear for both protagonists), the “Sekiryu Hideout Pack” (customisable hideout cosmetics), and additional “Mastery Points.” It is available for $149.95 AUD on consoles and $129.95 AUD on PC and Macs.

For fans and collectors, the Collector’s Edition combines all the content of the Digital Deluxe Edition with physical items such as a Steelbook, a world map, a Naoe & Yasuke figurine, a life-sized katana tsuba, a Wall Creed Scroll, a 76-page artbook, and two sumi-e lithographs. This premium edition is priced at $329.95 AUD across platforms.
Players who pre-order any edition will receive free access to the Claws of Awaji expansion, set to launch later in 2025. This expansion will introduce a new open-world region with over 10 hours of content, including additional skills, gear, abilities, and a new weapon for Naoe, the Bō. The story will follow Naoe and Yasuke as they evade a new faction, the Sanzoku Ippa, on the island of Awaji, navigating a landscape filled with traps and ambushes.
