Vocalist Rib has announced the release of his fifth album, Ratimeria. Scheduled for release on 14 May 2025, this album is Rib’s first in over five years, following his 2019 release Ribing Fossil.
The album cover has been illustrated by Posuka Demizu, the artist best known for her work on The Promised Neverland. Ratimeria will include eight tracks, featuring contributions from a range of creators such as Kairiki Bear × Shota Horie, Giga (with lyrics by Hidefumi Kenmochi), Yoh Kamiyama, TOKOTOKO (NishizawasanP), Sasuke Haraguchi, and meiyo. The album also includes “Twilight,” the ending theme for the upcoming TV anime Tasokare Hotel, provided by Eve.
The album will be available in two formats. The Standard Edition is priced at ¥2,640, while the First Press Limited Edition, priced at ¥3,960, includes a bonus CD featuring collaboration cover songs with artists such as Soraru, Kashitaro Ito, Chogakusei, Senra, and one more vocalist to be revealed. This edition also features a deluxe tall-case design with foil stamping.
Posuka Demizu commented on their work for the album cover, sharing her interpretation of the album’s theme:
I am deeply honored to have been asked to create the jacket illustration for Rib’s album. I interpreted the concept in my own way to bring it to life.
The coelacanth’s appearance is powerful, yet I aimed to give it an endearing face, hoping to convey a sense of approachability. Like a great tree, it grows slowly over a long period of time, a reliable presence watching over the beautiful surface of the sea from the depths. I would be happy if this resonates with the image you have in your mind.
