As part of Japan’s upcoming Winter 2024/2025 anime season, anime streaming platform HIDIVE has announced they will be the exclusive streaming platform of the slice-of-life drama Flowers and Asura in Australia, New Zealand, North America, the UK, and Ireland. The series is set to debut in January 2025.
Flowers and Asura is adapted from the manga by Ayano Takeda. It follows Hana, a young girl with a talent for narrating literature, who discovers her passion for storytelling when she begins reading to the island’s children. Recognising her talent, Mizuki, the president of the school’s broadcasting club, invites Hana to join the club. Through this experience, Hana embarks on a transformative journey of self-discovery, friendship, and a deeper love for reading.
The anime is being produced by Studio Bind, with direction by Ayumu Uwano and series composition by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, known for his work on Monster, NANA, and Black Clover. The main Japanese voice cast includes Minori Fujidera as Hana, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Mizuki, and Fuka Izumi as Anne, among others.
John Ledford, President of HIDIVE, expressed his enthusiasm for the new series:
We’re excited to add Flowers and Asura to our exclusive line-up of Winter 2025 simulcast series. This new slice-of-life drama based on a work of Ayano Takeda, beloved creator of Sound! Euphonium, will be a heart-warming celebration of friendship and fans will not want to miss a single episode of Flowers and Asura!
