During the Metaphor Launch Event held in Tokyo, Japan, as part of the Tokyo Game Show, Studio Zero Game Director Katsura Hashino announced that a Prologue Demo for Metaphor: ReFantazio is now available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. The demo is free for all players, and gives players their first hands-on look at what this new IP from the creators of modern-day Persona games, entails.
In this demo, players will get a taste of the game’s early narrative, explore social elements, and uncover parts of the city. Progress made in the demo will carry over to the full version of the game, allowing players to continue their journey in the United Kingdom of Euchronia seamlessly.
The Prologue Demo includes:
- The beginning of the journey to lift the curse of the prince
- The first four dungeons
- The ability to unlock seven of the 40+ available classes, known as “Archetypes”
- Meeting six followers, including potential party members, who will aid the protagonist on their quest
In Metaphor: ReFantazio, players will embark on a journey to shape their destiny, overcoming obstacles in a world of fantasy and intrigue, with the ultimate goal of claiming the throne. The game is set for release on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S starting 11 October 2025.
In addition to today’s demo release announcement, Jack Frost is confirmed to be included later in the game (ie. not in the demo) as a demon a character of the Summoner Archetype can summon.
