GungHo Online Entertainment America has announced the upcoming release of the Lunar Remastered Collection, which will include two classic JRPGs: Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete. Set to launch in Spring 2025, the collection will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
The Lunar Remastered Collection are set to be based on the original PlayStation 1 versions of both titles, while incorporating a range of modern enhancements. Fans of the series can expect updated graphics, including wide-screen support and high-definition animated cutscenes, as well as quality-of-life improvements such as a speed-up function for battles. The collection aims to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers by maintaining the nostalgic appeal of the games’ 90s-style animations and turn-based combat.
Players will have the option to experience the games in classic or remastered mode, offering the choice between the original PS1-style pixel art or an updated look with new animations. Additionally, the remaster will feature full voice acting for battles, available in both Japanese and a new English voiceover. The collection will also introduce two new subtitle languages: French and German, expanding accessibility for a broader audience of JRPG enthusiasts.
First released in 1992 on the SEGA CD, Lunar: Silver Star Story follows the story of Alex Noa, a determined young fighter, as he embarks on a journey to become a Dragonmaster and thwart the plans of a mysterious Magic Emperor. Lunar 2: Eternal Blue, originally released in 1994, continues the saga one thousand years later, following archaeologist Hiro and his companions as they attempt to stop the God of Destruction, Zophar, from annihilating the world.
