Koei Tecmo Games and the series’ long-time developer Gust have announced the latest entry in the Atelier series, titled Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. The new instalment is set to release on March 21, 2025, for multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Steam, and for the first time in the series’ history, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
To mark the announcement, an official trailer has been released, showcasing the game’s story, characters, and gameplay (below). Additionally, the main artwork for the game, created by artist Benitama, was revealed, highlighting the tone and visual style players can expect from this upcoming JRPG (left). Additionally, the game’s visual elements are brought to life by Benitama as well, known for their fantasy-themed illustrations and character designs.
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land takes place in a world where alchemy is considered taboo and focuses on Yumia Liessfeldt and her companions. The story revolves around uncovering the mysteries behind the fall of the Aladissian Empire, which was once prosperous due to alchemy, and exploring the lost memories of its history. Yumia’s journey will lead her across a continent left in ruins as she seeks to understand the cataclysm that destroyed Aladiss and to reconcile with her own past.
The game explores themes of memory, with players taking on the role of Yumia, a young alchemist whose mother’s identity as an alchemist was kept secret. Players will navigate this world, unraveling secrets and exploring the forbidden art of alchemy. Yumia joins the Aladiss Research Team, where she meets Vikto von Duerer and his sister, Isla von Duerer, among other characters, including a mysterious woman, a timid demi-human, and a former adventurer.
Gameplay features include exploration across an open-world landscape comprising various biomes. Players will gather materials for synthesis and crafting, which can be used both in exploration and combat scenarios. The new “Simple Synthesis” feature allows crafting without returning to a base, and for the first time in the series, the game introduces a “Building” feature that enables players to construct, furnish, and personalise their own base.
