After first being announced last December, Capcom attended the PlayStation State of Play livestreamed event with previews and information of Monster Hunter Wilds.
To start off with, you can watch the full three minute trailer for the game below.
In addition to the preview, Joseph Bustos, Social Media and Community Manager at Capcom USA took to the official PlayStation Blog and shared more information on Monster Hunter Wilds, which you can read in a summarised form below.
Immersive Gameplay and Environment

In Monster Hunter Wilds, every locale, monster, and character acts independently, contributing to a dynamic and immersive ecosystem. Players will be able to seamlessly start quests upon encountering large monsters while exploring. Fully voiced conversations with other characters will enhance the player’s connection to the game world.
The environments in Monster Hunter Wilds aimed to be vast, picturesque and vibrant. The Windward Plains, the first locale showcased in the trailer, features a mix of harsh deserts, grassy fields, and twisting rock formations. These environments are subject to extreme weather changes, impacting the flora and fauna within.
Ecosystem and Monsters

Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds act autonomously, forming herds and packs, and interacting with each other to survive. Some of the newly introduced monsters include:
- Doshaguma: A fanged beast with a robust build, known for its territorial nature and aggressive behaviour.
- Chatacabra: An amphibian species that uses adhesive saliva to attach materials to its forelegs for strength.
- Ceratonoth: Herbivores with males protecting females from lightning with their dorsal horns.
- Dalthydon: Herbivorous wyverns that change habitat with the seasons and defend themselves with their head shells.
Message from the Development Team…
The Seikret Mount

The Seikret, a new mount in the game, is a nimble, two-legged creature ridden by hunters. It uses its strong sense of smell to navigate to specified destinations. The Seikret allows hunters to use items and weapons on the move, offering new strategic possibilities in hunts.
Weapons and Combat

Monster Hunter Wilds will feature the 14 iconic weapon types from the series, including the Great Sword, Long Sword, and Bow. Each weapon type will have new actions to elevate the hunting experience. The new Focus Mode allows for more precise control over guarding, aiming, and attacking. Additionally, the Hook Slinger, an upgraded version of the slinger, enables players to collect items from a distance and perform contextual actions.
Characters and Story

Set in the Forbidden Lands, the story follows a hunter appointed to the Forbidden Lands Research Commission. Throughout they will meet many new characters, including:
- The Hunter: The player-controlled protagonist, with the ability to create and customise their hunter, who will have fully voiced dialogue.
- Palico: A supportive Felyne companion.
- Alma: A handler who assists with quest management and provides information.
- Gemma: The smithy responsible for crafting armor and weapons.
- Nata: A mysterious child central to the game’s story.
Monster Hunter Wilds is in development for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and is scheduled for release in 2025.
