Also having a presence at the recent PlayStation State of Play livestream event, KONAMI came with more news about the anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2, their 2001 survival horror game originally released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. While not the first time the game has been re-released for consoles, specifically as part of the Silent Hill HD Collection on the subsequent generation, this is the first time the full game has been remade. Silent Hill 2 Remake (or just Silent Hill 2) is currently in development by Bloober Team, as is now confirmed to be releasing on the PlayStation 5 starting 8 October 2024 both physically and digitally.

This announcement also came with an almost-fourteen minute gameplay trailer. Experience the guilt, grief, and existential horror of James Sunderland as he explores the town of Silent Hill, a place he and his late wife Mary used to visit. This backdrop, now shrouded in fog, serves as the setting for the remake. The trailer also expands the areas players can explore, introduces an over-the-shoulder view, revamps the combat system, and adds new cut scenes.
