Confirming a new visual novel is on the horizon, localiser and publisher Aksys Games has announced that Fragaria’s coming-of-age visual novel Tales from Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch (Ihanashi no Majo / イハナシの魔女) is set to debut on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 starting 22 August 2024. Following earlier localisations of the VN into Chinese (2022) and Korean (2023), this will mark its English-language debut.
Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch story follows Hikaru, who finds himself homeless and stranded on the unfamiliar and isolated island of Toyotoki. While avoiding pit vipers and confrontations with angry senior committee members, Hikaru encounters a witch in a similar predicament. Together, they strive to survive and thrive on the island, which is steeped in ancient traditions and shrouded in mystery.
Throughout their journey, they meet various locals, including a cheeky island beauty, a haughty rich girl, a clumsy saleswoman, and a manga-loving delinquent. Each character is on a personal quest to understand themselves and their place in the world. The group works together to uncover the mysteries of Toyotoki Island, all while pursuing their own journeys of self-discovery.
Tales from Toyotoki: Arrival of the Witch‘s console release features Japanese voice acting, with no confirmed English dub as of writing, although these tend to be an exception to most publishers going with the original audio in localised visual novels. The release will includes all previously released DLC and behind-the-scenes commentary from the creative team as an added perk.
