The Vancouver-based studio Sunset Visitor 斜陽過客 and narrative games publisher Fellow Traveller launched their new game, 1000xRESIST, on PC and Nintendo Switch last Friday. This game marks the debut for Sunset Visitor, comprised of a diverse Asian-diaspora team.
1000xRESIST is set in a distant future with humanity nearing extinction. The game introduces players to Watcher, a clone in a series referred to as ‘sisters’, who are descendants of a figure known as the ALLMOTHER. The game begins on the day of Watcher’s first Communion, a significant event where she connects with the memories of the ALLMOTHER, leading to a shocking discovery.
When the weight of a thousand-year-old lie falls upon your shoulders
Will you choose to unveil it, or conceal it?
The game explores dark existential themes and psychological complexities, dealing with identity, racism, and intergenerational trauma. It draws creative inspiration from notable works in games, anime, and theatre, including those by Yoko Taro, Hideaki Anno, Satoshi Kon, and Robert Wilson.

It features over 15,000 lines of dialogue, fully voiced by a cast of Asian-Canadian actors, and provides more than 10 hours of gameplay.
The game is priced at US$19.99, with a launch discount of 10% available until 23 May 2024. Additionally, a bundle discount is offered when 1000xRESIST is purchased together with Cryptmaster on Steam, under the ‘Why Not Both?’ Bundle, which provides a 32% total discount until 11:59 pm PT on 13 May 2024.
