SEGA has announced Sonic Rumble, a new addition to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, set to release this winter (or summer for those of us in the southern hemisphere). The game is a mobile title that transports players into a toy world devised by Dr. Eggman with new threats for Sonic and friends to go up against.
Although the game has just been announced, a closed beta test has already been confirmed, set to take place from 24-26 May 2024. Those interested in participating can express their interest HERE.
So… what is Sonic Rumble. It is a 32-player battle royale game where players will take control of toy figures racing against one another to collect the most rings and prove themselves the fastest in the toybox. The game features customisable characters from the Sonic universe, allowing for personalised avatars.
The development of Sonic Rumble is a collaborative effort between SEGA and Rovio, the creators of Angry Birds. This marks the first joint project between the two companies, with SEGA aiming to leverage Rovio’s marketing expertise to enhance the Sonic brand’s footprint in the global mobile gaming market.
