It might be as far removed from their beloved platformers of the late-90s and early-00s, but a couple of years in and RARE is continuing to provide post-launch development of their open-world adventure game Sea of Thieves for both Xbox One and Windows PC gaming platforms. In the latest free update titled ‘Lost Treasures‘, players are invited to revisit the story-driven adventures ‘Tall Tales’, which have been outfitted with an array of new features including tooltips, checkpoints and time-limited rewards.
Tall Tales focuses in on the stories of prominent people the main campaign of Sea of Thieves didn’t fully explore. Eleven of these are currently available, nine of which make up the ‘Shoes of Gold’ nonuplet, with a further two being released more recently. Tooltips on the map now show you where to begin and help set the scene for each Tale, while newly implemented checkpoints mean you can play through at your own pace and never have to worry about starting from scratch! As a small bonus, the Tall Tales Retold limited-time events in June offer rewards for pirates who thought they had uncovered everything…
This update also offers Daily Bounties, accessible through the What’s New messages which come up when you log in. Should you be brave and tackle them head-on, expect a healthy stream of Doubloons to come your way. These tasks can vary from finding your way to a far-flung location or disposing of enemy mobs in a particular manner.
