As many still remain in lockdown over the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment has done their part to keep anime fans entertained for hours by not only keeping a fresh assortment of episodes available via the AnimeLab video-on-demand streaming service, but by occasionally offering animated feature films for a limited time. After their offering of PROMARE the weekend before last for 72 hours, the next animated film to receive such a treatment is the 2016 drama A Silent Voice, based on the manga series written and illustrated by Yoshitoki Ooima.
A Silent Voice follows the story of Shoya Ishida, who when he was younger began bullying the new girl in class, Shoko Nishimiya, because she is deaf. But as the teasing continues, the rest of the class starts to turn on Shoya and he becomes cut from his social circle. When they leave elementary school, Shoko and Shoya do not speak to each other again… until an older, wiser Shoya, tormented by his past behaviour, decides he must see Shoko once more. He wants to atone for his sins, but is it already too late?
The full 2-hour film is now available to stream via AnimeLab, with both the original Japanese audio and English dub available based on your preference. It can be viewed at any time from now until 30 June 2020.
AnimeLab is an online anime streaming service managed by Madman Entertainment. It’s accessible only to those residing in Australia and New Zealand and offers a basic service free with video quality, dub and availability timeframe limitations. For those looking for access to no simulcast delays, no ads, full back-catalogue access and high definition video can take advantage of a premium subscription membership for $7.95AUD/month or $79.50AUD/year.
