Frozen the Musical’s Sydney Season Postponed Until December 2020

With performances scheduled to commence in July 2020 at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, Disney Theatrical Production Australia’s season of Frozen the Musical has understandably been postponed at this time. While those who have already purchased tickets will be contacted by Ticketmaster in the coming days if they haven’t already, the good news is that pending any further escalation of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have a new commencement date for the season.

In line with the most recent advice from the Federal and New South Wales Government, the season will commence on 1 December 2020. In a statement by the Chief Executive Officer of Foundation Theatres Graeme Kearns which runs the Capitol Theatre, they acknowledge that it will be disappointing for those who had bookings during the period, but “it’s just a little bit longer to wait and we will be frolicking in the snow by summer!“.

Whilst it seems a long wait, we are already getting ready for your return and cannot wait to open our doors to you later in the year. When that time comes and we can again gather together in our theatres, we need you, our theatre loving audience, to support the artisans who create our great theatrical stories and experiences, now more than ever. For the First Time in Forever will have a new significance when you hear it live at the Capitol Theatre when we reopen with this glorious show to actual real live people!

Tickets for performances held between 1 December 2020 and 21 February 2021 inclusive are now on sale, with performances from 24 February 2021 until 23 May 2021 expected to go on sale at a later date.

While some Australian states are in the process of incrementally reducing restrictions imposed on the general public during the COVID-19 pandemic, performing arts venues will likely be one of the last organisations to open their doors again. This is due to theatres not being great places for social distancing, in addition to the high number of sales being required to justify the cost of putting on a show. For those impacted by this postponement, here’s hoping Disney Theatrical Productions Australia and Ticketmaster offer them a first-to-purchase opportunity when the next wave of tickets open up.
