Casting is now complete for the Australian premiere of Mrs. Doubtfire, with a final group of performers confirmed to round out the company before the production opens in Melbourne later this year. Suzie Mathers, whose credits include Wicked and Mamma Mia!, will play Miranda Hillard. She is joined by Hayden Tee (Les Misérables, Matilda) as Frank Hillard, Thomas McGuane (Frozen, Back to the Future) as Stuart Dunmire and Jo-Anne Jackson as Wanda Sellner. Alexandra Lethborg makes her professional theatre debut in the production, taking on the role of Lydia Hillard. They will join the principal cast alongside the already confirmed Jake Speer, who will be filling the dual role of Mrs. Doubtfire and Daniel. Josh Burton has been named standby for Daniel Hillard.
As is typical for productions with child roles, the two youngest Hillard siblings will be played on a rotating basis. Hamilton Binnie-Garcia, Max Clarke, Noah Sherburn and Loukas Stavrias Ingrosso will share the role of Christopher Hillard, while Shyla Braic, Annabelle Christopoulos, Poppy En and Esme West will share Natalie Hillard.
Rounding out the company, the Ensemble and Swing teams are made up of Aicha Bangoura, Sienna Embrey, Daniel Erbacher, Lucy Fraser, Taye Grant, Jackson Head, Kimberley Hodgson, Lauren Jimmieson, Zuleika Khan, Maria Lombardo, Callum Marshall, Kieran McGrath, Noah Missell, Maverick Newman, Teya Quarmyne and Mietta White.
Adapting the 1993 film of the same name featuring Robin Williams, Mrs. Doubtfire follows the out-of-work actor Daniel, who loses custody of his children following a difficult divorce. Determined to remain part of their lives, he invents the Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire, a disguise that gradually takes on a life of its own and forces him to reconsider what family and fatherhood actually require of him. The stage version keeps recognisable moments from the film while adding new songs and dance sequences.
The Australian season opens at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre from November 2026, before transferring to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from March 2027. Additional legs of a potential national tour have yet to be announced. Ticketing details for both states are available through the production’s official website.
