The Australian production of Beetlejuice The Musical is set to expand its run later this year, with new seasons confirmed for both Adelaide and Sydney – following its Brisbane season which starts next month, and subsequent Perth season in August.
The Adelaide season will take place at the Festival Theatre within the Adelaide Festival Centre, starting on 10 October 2026. Following this season, the production will move to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre in November 2026 for its final Australian performances. Tickets for both cities are scheduled to go on sale on Thursday 7 May 2026.
Based on the 1988 film, the musical follows the story of Lydia Deetz, a teenager preoccupied with death. Her life changes when she discovers her new home is haunted by a recently deceased couple and a striped demon. After Lydia enlists the demon to help frighten her parents, the situation evolves into a series of events involving an exorcism, a frightened girl scout, and a journey into the netherworld.
The production features a score by Australian composer and lyricist Eddie Perfect, whose work on the show earned a Tony Award nomination. Composer and lyricist Eddie Perfect shared his thoughts on bringing the musical to these specific Australian audiences.
