Misa Isshiki’s story continues in 9 R.I.P. sequel, which Idea Factory International has now released on Nintendo Switch. The otome visual novel is available physically and digitally in North America and Europe.
The sequel picks up after the endings of 9 R.I.P., with Misa now in her second year of high school and dealing with both her love life and the consequences of what she did in the first game. The challenges she faces depend on which route the player takes. In some, she is dealing with the aftermath of her own death, while in others she is in a relationship with a supernatural being. Either way, Misa has to come to terms with her choices before she can move forward, and players decide whether she stays on the same path or heads somewhere new.
The game includes nine full routes featuring love interests from the previous game, a mix of men, demons and spirits. Two kinds of route are featured. Heavenly Routes act as a more direct follow-up to the first game’s Heavenly Endings, introducing new obstacles where the player’s choices affect the people around Misa. Godly Routes lean more towards romance, serving as epilogues to each love interest’s Godly Ending from the original and aimed at players who want a happier, sweeter conclusion.
