Idea Factory International has confirmed that the sequel to the otome visual novel 9 R.I.P. is currently being localised and headed to the Nintendo Switch in 2026. The title is scheduled to launch both physically and digitally, with the usual assortment of editions available via the IFI Online Store, select physical retailers and the Nintendo eShop. This new entry will feature nine full character routes, continuing the supernatural narratives established in the original game.
The story follows protagonist Misa Isshiki as she enters her second year of high school. Picking up after the events of the first game, Misa is forced to confront the ramifications of her previous decisions. The plot varies significantly based on the chosen path, with some scenarios focusing on the fallout of her death and others exploring the complexities of maintaining a relationship with a supernatural entity. Visuals for the sequel are once again being provided by character designer Yuuya.
The sequel divides its narrative structure into two distinct types of story paths. The Heavenly Routes act as direct continuations of the Heavenly Endings from the previous game, introducing new obstacles that require careful decision-making to avoid negative consequences for the supporting cast. In contrast, the Godly Routes serve as epilogues to the original Godly Endings, offering a more traditional romantic focus for fans seeking a sweeter conclusion to each love interest’s arc.
In addition to the returning cast of spirits, demons, and humans, 9 R.I.P. Sequel also introduces several new sub-characters. Players can also unlock various pieces of bonus content by progressing through the main story.
