Idea Factory International has confirmed that Homura: The Crimson Warriors, an otome visual novel first released in Japan on PlayStation Vita in 2018, will launch on Nintendo Switch physically and digitally in 2026. The historical fantasy places romance routes against the backdrop of the final days of the Warring States period, positioning players at the heart of a conflict that pits the Toyotomi loyalists against the Tokugawa shogunate.
Set fourteen years after the Battle of Sekigahara, the narrative follows the Toyotomi clan’s last stand within Osaka Castle. Nobushige Sanada, second son of the Sanada family and recently kept under house arrest on Mt. Kudo, breaks free to answer the call. He is joined by the Sanada Ten Braves, a band of ninja retainers who continue to serve him despite exile, as they face assassins and warriors aligned with the shogunate known as the Ura Yagyu.
Players step into the role of Mutsumi Mochizuki, fighting alongside the Crimson Warriors while balancing relationships that can branch toward multiple endings and CGs. Energy Reading serves as a core system, allowing Mutsumi to monitor affection levels and each ally’s Ring status. Rings can be adjusted to unlock unique powers when sped up, trading short term strength for physical strain that must be carefully managed to avoid serious consequences.
Progress can be tracked and shaped through Ninja Guidance. Story scrolls make it possible to revisit earlier scenes, adjust affection and Ring levels with specific characters, and steer the narrative toward alternate outcomes. Character growth also factors into the adventure. By advancing a ninja rank throughout the story and aiming for Master, Mutsumi can keep pace with the Crimson Warriors in key confrontations against the Ura Yagyu.
