Summer at the Edge of the Universe Announced for 2021 Release 1

Studio Élan together with niche game publisher Sekai Project have announced that development of their upcoming visual novel Summer at the Edge of the Universe is well and truly underway, and will be available to purchase sometime in 2021. This title will be a rare multiplatform release for the genre, to be available not only on the PC, Mac and Linux but also the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Developed by a studio outside of Japan, Summer at the Edge of the Universe will come with staples found in most major JP visual novels, most of note being full voice-acting (In English). Also on offer are three heroine routes with romantic and platonic endings, a fully original soundtrack and illustrations by visual novel artist adirosa.

Studio Élan is a visual novel development group focusing on lesbian-themed games, with a specific vision of sharing love stories combined with magic and fantasy elements. Their past titles include Heart of the Woods (2019), Highway Blossoms (2016) and the upcoming game Lock and Key.

About Summer at the Edge

Summer at the Edge of the Universe is a solarpunk lesbian visual novel. After several years without talking, a chance encounter brings four best friends back together for the journey of a lifetime. For Summer Nansen (CV: Hikaru Station), this trip is a chance to not only rekindle old friendships, but also to discover what it is she wants out of life. Joined by the spunky robot Curiosity, the four girls travel from planet to planet, exploring the natural wonders and diverse alien cultures that they come across. Their journey culminates at the borderline of existence itself: the very edge of the universe.

There are three routes, centered around each of Summer’s friends. All routes contain both romantic and platonic endings. More fantasy than sci-fi, Summer aims to be a positive and uplifting experience, with one of the core tenets for the game being “good vibes only.
