HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.0, titled “A Sleepwalker’s Confession”, will launch on 17 June 2026. The update marks the beginning of Season 3 and introduces Roscaelifer, a mysterious sky island that will open to players for the first time. Zenless Zone Zero will also launch on Steam on the same day, with cross-platform data sharing supported.
As part of the Season 3 launch, all Proxies will receive the Phaethon faction Agent Pyrois and a total of 1,600 Polychromes. The first 600 Polychromes will be available by logging in on launch day, while the remaining 1,000 will be distributed on 4 July for the game’s second anniversary. A Season 3 themed Proxy outfit will also be gifted through the Version 3.0 main storyline, with Pyrois’ Mindscapes and exclusive W-Engine planned as future free rewards.
In the main story, the Proxies travel to Roscaelifer after being invited by the Mayor of New Eridu. Their goal is to treat a mysterious Ether energy once again spiralling out of control within their body. Guided by Velina, Administrative Director of the External Strategy Department, the Proxies arrive on the main island as special transfer students and begin uncovering the truth behind Pyrois, a mysterious power hidden within them. Roscaelifer is also facing growing unrest, with controversy surrounding the External Strategy Department’s Bangboo chips, a series of Bangboo self-destruction incidents and abnormal changes inside the Energy Hub’s Hollows. The first-generation Void Hunter Remielle Dan is also teased as part of the sky city’s developing crisis.
Version 3.0 will introduce two new S-Rank Agents. Velina is a Wind attribute Anomaly Agent and the first Wind attribute Agent in Zenless Zone Zero. She can build Wind Anomaly on enemies and apply the Windswept state. When Windswept and another Attribute Anomaly are active on the same target, a Vortex effect triggers, dealing area damage based on the other attribute.
Norma, the ESD’s Chief Technician and a core member of the Marcel Group’s technological centre, will debut as an S-Rank Fire attribute Stun Agent. Her combat system is built around her signature hat, which builds Preheated Chamber whether she is on or off the field. Once enough resources are available, Norma can convert teammates’ Quick Assists into Chain Attacks, creating extra Chain Attack opportunities for the squad.
Agent Ye Shunguang and Sunna will also return alongside their respective exclusive W-Engines.
Roscaelifer will include several new exploration features and locations. Roarin’ Brekkies will offer a daily random cookie, while the Spotlight Theater will stage Bangboo performances. A mysterious sky bus can also be found in the city, with a hidden route that can be unlocked by summoning it at a specific time.
Proxies will gain access to the Universal Terminal across the city, allowing them to control surveillance cameras for first-person reconnaissance and scanning, as well as pilot a drone with Eous for targeted operations. Within Scamall Hollow, Proxies can use Pyrois’ spatial movement abilities to ride the Aerial Transit at high speed. Singularity Leakage events can also shift the state of the environment and mechanisms when overlapping dimensions occur.
The update also adds Interboo, a new collection system that records discoveries across Roscaelifer and converts exploration progress into rewards including Polychromes.
Version 3.0 will introduce two permanent gameplay modes. “Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip” will allow Proxies to nurture and command Collaboorator squads while repairing the Central Computing Hub and completing chip research missions. Annihilation Simulacrum will focus on high difficulty boss challenges with no elemental weaknesses or resistances, placing more emphasis on mechanics and execution.
Several limited time events will also be added after the update, offering rewards such as a Tuning Calibrator, W-Engine, Polychromes, a title and new Drive Disc sets. Velina’s limited outfit, Shade of Leisure, will also go on sale after Version 3.0 launches.
HoYoverse is also adding several system improvements. A Drive Disc Smart discard function will allow players to batch process unwanted Drive Discs, while the Drive Disc Tuning interface will prioritise compatible sets from active training plans. From Version 3.0 onward, protagonist outfit accessories such as headwear, hair accessories, earrings and glasses will become universal items that can be mixed across outfits.
On PC, Version 3.0 will introduce a visual upgrade for compatible hardware, including real-time global illumination using ray tracing. DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation support will also be available to help balance visual quality and performance.
