With Echoes of Aincrad set to launch on 10 July 2026, Bandai Namco Entertainment has shared a new story trailer for the game, offering a closer look at how the 10,000 players respond to the end of the “BETA test” and the grim truth of their situation inside the world of SWORD ART ONLINE. The trailer shows players confronting the reality that they are trapped within the floating castle of Aincrad, where death in the game means death in the real world, while also revealing familiar faces from the franchise including Asuna, Agil and Lisbeth. Players will take on the role of a hero trying to unite others, survive, clear the game and set everyone free, with partner characters able to fight alongside them using Special Skills and the Switch System to shift between autonomous combat and support roles.
