JNG Studio has launched the inaugural Mic Check playtest for Totopia on Steam, providing players worldwide with their first opportunity to access the upcoming free to play party hub. This technical test period is scheduled to run until 18 May 2026, allowing participants to explore the game’s dual focus on competitive multiplayer and social simulation.
The title functions as a digital social space where users can engage in a variety of activities. The competitive component proclaims to feature more than 100 unique maps, including obstacle courses, races, and combat focused brawls. These challenges range from individual trials to cooperative team matches, offering players different ways to progress through the ranks of the competitive leaderboards.
Outside of the competitive arenas, the game features a central social district known as Pulse Avenue. In this hub, the gameplay shifts towards a life simulation experience. Players can interact with quirky creatures called Atomons, engage in fishing, manage a farm, or operate as a barista. It also aims to put a focus on customisation, with options to design a personal home base and modify character appearances through various outfits and accessories.
A core mechanic introduced in the playtest is Soulsync, which allows players to form a bond with their companions. This system unlocks specific abilities and movement tricks that can be used to navigate difficult terrain in challenge levels or gain a tactical advantage during competitions. The playtest also introduces the threat of Bitrot, requiring players to take on the role of heroes to protect the world from this corruption.
This Steam exclusive window serves as a primary gathering point for the community to test the game’s systems before its wider release.
