Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have confirmed that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea is scheduled to open in theatres across the United States and Canada on 1 May 2026. The film continues the story of the isekai franchise, which recently saw the debut of its fourth anime season earlier this month.
Directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi, who also worked on the screenplay with Toshizo Nemoto, the movie runs for 104 minutes and is produced by Eightbit. The narrative is based on an original story concept by the series creator, Fuse. It will be available in cinemas with both English dubbing and the original Japanese audio accompanied by English subtitles.
The story is set after the opening ceremony of the Demon Kingdom Federation Tempest. Rimuru and his companions receive an invitation from Celestial Emperor Elmesia to visit a private resort island within the Magi Dynasty Thalion. The group’s vacation is interrupted by the appearance of a woman named Yura, triggering a new incident in the coastal region.
Ahead of the premiere, a special screening event for the franchise’s first film, Scarlet Bond, will take place on 20 April 2026 at 7 PM local time. Part of Crunchyroll’s Anime Nights program, this one-day-only event in the United States will include an exclusive ten-minute sneak peek of Tears of the Azure Sea.
