Natsume has announced Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea, the latest title in their long-running farming simulation series, which was one localised releases of the Japanese Bokujo Monogatari franchise, before Natsume began crafting their own titles in the series. The game is planned for release across the PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
The story takes place in the land of Teradea, which has been recently covered by a mist originating from the Forest of Echoes. The protagonist, who hails from Bloomfield Village, sets out with their best friend to investigate the sudden appearance of nocturnal wild wolves and rumours of a powerful guardian wolf. Aided by the Harvest Goddess, the player is tasked with helping the local Guardian Spirits revitalize the region. This overarching goal requires visiting several distinct locations, including the port village of Tidewind to stop ongoing storms, the mining town of Quarrytop to investigate unexplained earthquakes, and the cultural hub of Maplehill to restore its fading community.
While traditional gameplay loops involving crop cultivation and animal husbandry return, the title introduces new traversal mechanics. Characters can now jump, climb ladders, and scale vines to reach hidden locations and gather resources. Players will also have access to nautical charts, which open up island exploration to find treasure and befriend rare animals not found on the mainland. Furthermore, a new companion system allows players to bring pets and mounts on their journey, utilizing their specific abilities to navigate uncharted areas.
Venturing into the wilderness requires players to actively avoid aggressive wildlife such as bears, tigers, and wolves. Failing to evade these animals will cause the player to drop collected items and be sent directly back to their farm. By successfully navigating the world, assisting villagers, and contributing to the development of Teradea, players will earn a resource called Happilia. The social systems also return with ten new romance options, allowing players to court and marry from a pool of five bachelors and five bachelorettes.
Natsume President and CEO Hiro Maekawa stated that the company will share further details regarding gameplay systems and physical editions in the near future:
