SEGA has released Sonic Rumble worldwide, introducing the latest mobile game in the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, this time pitching to players with a 32 player party royale that seeks to blend obstacle courses with competitive arenas. Set inside Dr. Eggman’s toybox world, players control miniature figures of Sonic the Hedgehog characters and race to collect the most Rings.
According to SEGA, more than 10 million players pre-registered, pre ordered, wishlisted or downloaded the game during the pre-launch period. Players can also claim a selection of launch period in game items that include character skins and stickers.
Producer Norikazu Hirai outlined how the launch brings the franchise to a broader audience with cross play:
Today marks an exciting new chapter for the Sonic franchise. Sonic Rumble is the first Sonic game that brings cross-play capabilities across mobile and PC, which has the potential to bring together an abundance of players in a shared experience of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe.
