Outerminds Inc. has confirmed that its blood-soaked BMX metroidvania Turbo Kid will roll onto Nintendo Switch on 5 August 2025. The console launch follows an April 2024 debut on PC and adds another chapter to the studio’s resume, which already includes titles such as PewDiePie’s: Legend of the Brofist, Tuber Simulator and Pixelings.
Based on the 2015 cult-classic film, Turbo Kid drops players into a garish, neon-tinged wasteland where water is scarce, warlords rule the roads and a trusty BMX is the quickest route to survival. Exploring its sprawling, secret-stuffed map means sprinting, jumping, crawling and – most importantly – calling in that bike to smash shortcuts or pull off trick boosts.
Combat aims to stick to the same over-the-top ethos. Machetes, electric blasts from the Turbo Glove and saw-blade projectiles all turn mutant foes into showers of pixelated gore. Between missions, upgrades let you tweak weapons and skills to suit a quiet exploration run or an all-out speedrun sprint.
Set shortly after the events of the movie, the narrative lets players choose who to help, who to hinder and how much lore to absorb. Cut-scenes are skippable, dialogue is concise and the emphasis stays on fluid gameplay, whether you are out to uncover every secret or simply chase a faster completion time.
