Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV Online’s next major update, Patch 7.3, will be released on Tuesday 5 August 2025. Producer and director Naoki Yoshida revealed the date during the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, sharing a new trailer that previews the story’s next chapter and several incoming features.
Patch 7.3 extends the post-Dawntrail storyline with new main scenario quests and sends parties into fresh group content, most notably the second chapter of the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid, subtitled San d’Oria: The Second Walk. Dungeon adventures will see players venture through The Meso Terminal, while trial seekers will tackle an as-yet-unnamed encounter offered in both Normal and Extreme versions.
Additional challenges arrive in the form of The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal) – a level-100 rematch with Seiryu (one of my favourite Stormblood trials) – and the treasure dungeon Vault Oneiron. Solo-friendly Duty Support now covers Cutter’s Cry, and competitive players get Series 9 PvP with action tweaks, new ranked tiers and the Bayside Battleground arena for Crystalline Conflict. Rounding things out are several quality-of-life tweaks, including chat bubbles, Phoenix Down adjustments and expanded Group Pose options.
Looking ahead, at least two major follow-up patches will deepen the content pool. Patch 7.31 introduces the planet Phaenna for Cosmic Exploration alongside new Phantom Weapon enhancement quests, while Patch 7.35 will add the Deep Dungeon Pilgrim’s Traverse, Yok Huy allied society quests and the next instalment of the Hildibrand side story.
