Over a decade after it became a global mobile gaming phenomenon, Flappy Bird is officially back, this time with new content and a fresh home on the Epic Games Store for Android.
The updated version retains the original game’s trademark simplicity in Classic mode: players tap the screen to keep their bird airborne, dodging endless rows of pipes. The straightforward gameplay and high difficulty curve helped the original Flappy Bird rise to viral fame in 2013 before being unexpectedly pulled from app stores by its creator in early 2014.
In this latest iteration, Flappy Bird also introduces a new Quest mode, which offers players themed worlds, new challenges, and more complex obstacles. According to the developers, this content marks the beginning of a broader roadmap of updates planned for 2025, including new characters and visual styles.
The game is free to download and play, with monetisation coming from in-app purchases and ads. Developers have also stated that there will be no Web3 or blockchain integrations… even though for games like this, surely that wouldn’t be considered a possibility in the first place.
