As part of its ongoing commitment to make gaming more accessible across a wider range of devices, Xbox has announced a series of updates as part of its April Xbox Monthly Feature Update. These enhancements include improvements to the Xbox mobile app, expanded functionality for Xbox Cloud Gaming, broader support for remote play, and more.
One of the most notable mobile additions is the ability to purchase games, join Xbox Game Pass, and redeem Game Pass Perks directly from the Xbox app on mobile. This feature is currently rolling out to beta users on both iOS and Android, with general availability to follow via the Apple Store and Google Play. Players with a saved payment method will be able to purchase titles and add-on content in just two taps, and pre-install supported games directly from the app.
In addition, Xbox has expanded its “Stream your own game” feature to Xbox consoles. Previously introduced in November 2024 for browsers and select smart devices, the feature is now available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in all 28 supported Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) regions can stream games they own – beyond the standard Game Pass catalogue—directly from their consoles without the need to install them. Titles currently supported include LEGO Marvel Superheroes, Subnautica 2, and Monster Jam Showdown, with additional games to be added regularly.
Remote play capabilities have also been extended. Players can now stream and play games installed on their consoles through a web browser by visiting xbox.com/remoteplay. The list of supported devices now includes Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Meta Quest headsets. As of this month, backward compatible titles from the original Xbox and Xbox 360 are also playable via remote play.
To help manage storage more efficiently, Xbox consoles now feature improved space management tools that suggest unused add-ons, duplicate installs, and content that is no longer accessible for removal. These recommendations can be found under My Games & Apps > Manage > Free up space.
Finally, a redesigned Game Hub experience has begun rolling out to select users. Game Hubs now provide at-a-glance information such as player stats, achievements, active friends, and more. While the new hub layout will appear when selecting recently played or installed titles, users can opt to bypass it and launch games directly via a new setting found in the console’s personalisation options.
