Square Enix and developer poncle have announced a new collaboration update titled Emerald Diorama, bringing content from SaGa Emerald Beyond into the gothic-horror action game Vampire Survivors. The update is available now as a free download across all platforms, including PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, iOS, and Android.
Launched in celebration of SaGa Emerald Beyond’s upcoming first anniversary on 25 April, the update adds a new stage, characters, weapons, and music to Vampire Survivors, incorporating the distinctive aesthetic and mechanics of the SaGa franchise into the bullet-hell roguelike. Some of the key features of the update include:
- 12 Playable Characters from SaGa Emerald Beyond, each equipped with unique abilities and weapons. Characters include Ameya, a witch disguised as a schoolgirl; Diva No. 5, a singing mech; and Siugnas, the vampire Dismal King. Some characters also gain advantages when used in party combinations.
- A New Stage inspired by SaGa Emerald Beyond, merging several of the game’s worlds into one battleground filled with aggressive enemies and hidden secrets.
- More than 16 New Weapons, each featuring the franchise’s signature “Glimmering” mechanic, which allows weapons to learn special techniques during gameplay.
- Nine Music Tracks, including remixes and new compositions from SaGa Emerald Beyond.
Akitoshi Kawazu, General Director of the SaGa series, commented on the collaboration, stating:
We have another big surprise for SaGa fans: a collaboration between Vampire Survivors (yes, that Vampire Survivors!) and SaGa Emerald Beyond. You may be wondering what could have possibly brought a bullet hell, survival roguelike and SaGa together. This collaboration was realized thanks to Luca from poncle being a fan of the SaGa franchise. I would never have imagined that SaGa would continue to expand in this way, so at the same time as being totally surprised, I feel a new, fresh kind of joy.
To the SaGa fans out there who haven’t experienced Vampire Survivors yet: please seize this opportunity to jump in and enjoy Vampire Survivors. And I would love for Vampire Survivors fans to try playing SaGa Emerald Beyond as well.
