FusionPlay and Team17 have announced that Nice Day for Fishing, a pixel-art fishing adventure RPG, will launch on 29 May 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. The game will be priced at £19.99 / US$19.99 / €19.99, with pre-orders expected to go live on each platform shortly. Coinciding with this release date announcement is the game’s newest trailer, which highlights the collaboration between FusionPlay, Team17 and the familiar faces of Viva La Dirt League.
Nice Day for Fishing tells the story of Baelin, a humble NPC fisherman forced into unexpected heroism after the town of Honeywood is devastated and its Adventurers go missing. Armed only with his fishing rod, Baelin embarks on a quest to restore the town and save the land of Azerim—one catch at a time.
Players will journey through the whimsical lands of Azerim, from the tranquil Honeywood Forest to the rugged Azerim coast, uncovering quests and encountering familiar faces from the Epic NPC Man series. Along the way, new species of fish await discovery, each tied to the narrative and environment of the region they inhabit, deepening the connection between exploration and gameplay progression.
In battle, fishing becomes a test of skill and strategy. Baelin wields his rod not just as a tool but as a weapon in fast-paced encounters that combine precision timing with powerful spells and defensive moves. As players dredge resources from the sea, they can begin rebuilding the town of Honeywood, unlocking merchants and upgrades for Baelin’s gear. By completing fishing collections tied to each region, players can present their achievements to the fishing God and receive divine blessings in the form of new abilities, reinforcing the game’s balance between action, adventure, and progression.
