Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that Diablo IV: Belial’s Return, the game’s eighth seasonal update, will launch on 30 April 2025. This new season places the spotlight on Belial, the Lord of Lies, as players confront reality-bending threats, gain powerful new abilities, and pursue a truth that may be more elusive than it seems.
Season 8 introduces a new questline centred on Belial’s return and a reworked Lair Boss system. Players will face off against Belial and other bosses within the Exalted Lair, forming part of a broader narrative challenge. Complementing this is the arrival of Apparition Incursion events—open-world, multiplayer boss rush encounters that provide escalating waves of enemies and the opportunity for enhanced rewards.
A key gameplay addition is the Boss Powers system, which offers 24 unique powers and 48 combinations when modifiers are factored in. Players can earn Spectral Ash through Apparition Legion Events to upgrade their selected powers. Meanwhile, the Battle Pass has undergone a significant overhaul with the new Reliquary System, offering greater customisation and varied progression paths to better suit individual playstyles.
Diablo IV will also mark its first external collaboration during Season 8. From 7 May 2025 until the end of the season, players can access cosmetics inspired by the dark fantasy manga Berserk. This crossover allows fans to equip themselves with some of the series’ most iconic looks while battling the demonic forces of Sanctuary.
