HoYoverse has announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.5, titled Astra-nomical Moment, will launch on 22 January 2025. The update introduces a mix of new gameplay elements, features, and events, as well as a central narrative involving Astra Yao, New Eridu’s star performer, whose New Year’s performance at the iconic Starloop will take centre stage.
During the new year, New Eridu’s beloved star, Astra Yao, will perform at Starloop, the city’s iconic landmark. When the main stage encircled by structures resembling a star’s orbit rises, Astra will shine brilliantly in the spotlight. Yet, where there is light, shadows are never far behind. Conspiracies and schemes lurking beneath the stage threaten Astra. However, with Evelyn and the Proxy’s unwavering support and protection, she will certainly triumph over all adversities… hopefully.
With regard to recruitable party members, there will be two new S-Rank characters released. Astra Yao will debut as an S-Rank Ether Support Agent. She provides buffs through her Idyllic Cadenza state, remains active even when switched out, and serves as the game’s first healer. Her Ultimate delivers damage while restoring HP to the squad. Evelyn, another new S-Rank Agent, specialises in Fire Attacks and can unleash powerful Chain Attacks with Burning Tether Point mechanics. Returning characters include Ellen, an S-Rank Ice Attack Agent, and Qingyi, an S-Rank Electric Stun Agent. Players will also be introduced to Snap, a new S-Rank Bangboo with a photography motif.
The update includes fresh gameplay experiences such as “Endless Tower: The Last Stand”, where players ascend through 10-floor phases with specific combat effects, and “Perpetrator Battle,” which involves tactical use of designated Agents and exclusive Gear. Additional updates include enhancements to Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault, offering players varied combat options.
Beyond combat, Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.5 celebrates the Urban Video Game Festival with “Mach 25,” a parkour-themed arcade game available at Godfinger, alongside new Dream Seekers for the Bizarre Brigade’s 2-player PvE mode. Social and recreational events include the Bangboo pageant, “Ridu’s Got Boo,” with rewards like Nicole’s new outfit, and the Elpis Ultimate Angler Championship, where fishing enthusiasts can compete for prizes, including a dynamic wallpaper.
The update will also introduce new outfits for several characters, interface optimisations, and features such as dynamic wallpaper and badge displays.
