Square Enix Releases Dragon Quest Builders on PC via Steam

More than eight years following the game’s original release on the PlayStation 3, Square Enix has finally given Dragon Quest Builders a PC release via Steam, boasting an upgraded crafting experience built with the PC in mind, and the ‘Terra Incognita’ DLC at no extra charge. In addition, a bundle that combines Dragon Quest Builders with Dragon Quest Builders 2 is now available for purchase. For those who have already acquired Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Steam, there is an opportunity to purchase Dragon Quest Builders at a reduced price.

Dragon Quest Builders sets out to offer an engaging sandbox experience, encouraging players to reconstruct the devastated realm of Alefgard. This task involves gathering materials and crafting unique items, with the game providing limitless possibilities for creativity. Set against the backdrop of a Dragon Quest style narrative and world – it seeks to offer a combination of classic RPG elements and sandbox world-building, as players work to protect their world from the Dragonlord, a notorious monster from the wider Dragon Quest series.

The Steam version of Dragon Quest Builders enriches the player’s crafting arsenal and introduces “Terra Incognita,” a feature previously added to the mobile edition in 2022. This update allows for nearly double the height in block stacking, expanding creative possibilities. “Terra Incognita” also brings new content, including a Boss Monster Model Set for creating posable monster figures, an Astronomy Set to adorn the night sky with stars and planets, and a Pixel Ring that enhances the number of “pixels” players earn from defeating enemies. These pixels can be used to craft special items at the “Dragon Quest Game Pack” workstation. Additionally, a Magic Carpet is introduced, offering a novel way to explore, build, and view structures from above, all while enjoying special musical themes.
