Renewed Partnership Sees Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond Women Feature in EA Sports FC 27

AFC Richmond Women are making their EA SPORTS FC debut in FC 27, giving players the chance to take the Lady Greyhounds onto the pitch or guide them from the touchline as Ted Lasso. The addition forms part of Electronic Arts’ renewed partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which also brings back Nelson Road and adds Richmond-themed rewards.

The women’s team will sit within Women’s Rest of World and can be selected in Kick Off, Career and Online Seasons. Nelson Road, also known as the Dog Track, returns as a playable stadium, bringing Richmond’s home ground into the experience alongside the squad.

For players who want to spend more time with the club, Manager Career offers the option to take charge of AFC Richmond Women as Ted, with the integration being coupled with social media stories, cutscenes and touchline interactions, in addition to themed Challenges.

Football Ultimate Team gives players another way to bring Richmond into their own club. Themed Objectives offer kits, stadium cosmetics, Manager Items and other rewards. Completing Objectives also contributes towards Season Progress, alongside the rewards attached to those objectives.

Abbie Hern reflected on joining the Lady Greyhounds squad in the game and what that could offer Richmond fans:

It was incredibly special the first time I got to play with AFC Richmond in the game, and it’s amazing to see myself as part of the Lady Greyhounds squad in EA SPORTS FC 27. Our fans have embraced Richmond as more than just a fictional club. Giving people a way to play and connect with the Women’s team on the pitch in FC 27 feels like a wonderful next chapter, and I hope players enjoy making us part of their football stories.

Jeff Sharma, VP, Brand, EA SPORTS FC, discussed how the partnership connects Richmond with the game’s different modes:

Ted Lasso celebrates the power of football to bring people together, and that’s exactly what FC 27 is built for. FC 27 gives players more ways than ever to play and connect, and AFC Richmond is the perfect club to welcome them in. Fans can take the pitch with its Women’s team in Kick Off, lead the Lady Greyhounds as Ted in Career Mode, and represent Richmond in their own Club in Football Ultimate Team. However you play, FC 27 and Ted Lasso are united by the belief that football is better together

EA SPORTS FC 27 is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
