Following its release on other platforms, Free Lives and Devolver Digital has confirmed that ecological strategy game Terra Nil will be spreading its branches, and be headed to the Nintendo Switch starting 18 December 2023.
Characterized by its serene and meditative approach, Terra Nil offers a distinct take on the city-builder genre. The game is centered around the concept of environmental rejuvenation, where players use advanced eco-technology to revive barren landscapes. The objective is to transform desolate wastelands into flourishing ecosystems. Players engage in activities such as purifying soil, cleaning oceans, planting trees, and reintroducing wildlife. A notable aspect of the game is its focus on leaving no trace, as players are encouraged to recycle all structures and equipment upon completing a region’s restoration.
The game features a variety of procedurally generated biomes, each presenting unique challenges based on their climate, geology, and biodiversity. From volcanic glaciers and ruined cities to tropical islands, Terra Nil offers a range of different environments to explore. After completing the four main regions, players can unlock alternate levels, further enhancing the game’s replayability. These levels allow players to create different ecological zones like rainforests, swamps, and rivers, contributing to the dynamic transformation of each biome.
