As a reward for the game’s success during The Game Awards 2023, developer HoYoverse will be providing players with a free five star character, Dr. Ratio, as part of Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.6. So you have logged in today, all excited about checking out this free five-star, an offer the development team has never offered in any of their major 3D works, and are now asking yourself… “Where is he?”.
As is usually with the case with the gacha banners in HoYoverse titles, each update see’s two banner waves made available, typically (now) two during the former half and two during the latter half of the update. Dr. Ratio’s banner, titled ‘Panta Rhei’, will be available in the latter half, therefore the character is not available in-game just yet.
Once the banner is released in January 2024, you can expect to receive an in-game message with the character attached to it. Unlike the ill-fated “Guest 5-Star Banner” of Aloy in Genshin Impact, should you wish to, you will be able to continue pulling for Dr. Ratio while is banner is active, building up his constellations. The free character will be available until Update 2.1 goes live next year, and only requires you to have unlocked the game’s mailbox feature to acquire.
Dr. Ratio, a new 5-star Imaginary-Type character from the Intelligentsia Guild, excels in combat with the ability to launch follow-up attacks based on the number of debuffs on an enemy. As you can probably tell, he has a very mathematical approach to his design, effects and nature.
