Generally considered one of the highlights of the 2022 video game line-up, Elden Ring from FROM Software was met with high acclaim, another Souls like game from the developer that defined the genre, but this time delivering a truly diverse and imaginative open world, involving the likes of George R.R. Martin in its creative process, and offering a complex but fair challenge to those attempting its dozens of dungeons and bosses.
While some might see a popular game like this ripe for monetisation through downloadable content, FROM Software tends to not be like that, either offering no DLC at all, or otherwise well-planned out content released many months if not years after launch. In the case of Elden Ring, we are receiving a paid-for expansion, but this announcement has only come a year following its launch.
While details are limited, FROM Software and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment today confirmed that development is underway on Elden Ring: Shadows of the Erdtree. They hope you “look forward to new adventures in the Lands Between”, and will hopefully share more information with us in the near future.
