PlayStation VR2 to Launch in Late February 2022

Get ready for the next generation of PlayStation platform virtual reality support, with Sony Interactive Entertainment today confirming that the PlayStation VR2 unit will be officially launching on 22 February 2023. Gone are the old school PlayStation Move controllers, with the unit to be complemented by the release of the VR2 Sense Controller, charging station and a range of games. Only limitation perhaps for some is its price, starting at $879.95 AUD, putting it at a price parity if not a bit more expensive than the PlayStation 5 itself.

Pre-orders for the PlayStation VR2 will begin on 15 November 2022 at participating retailers. Furthermore, standalone software titles including Horizon Call of the Mountain and more will be available to pre-order starting later this month as well.

The PlayStation VR2 boasts ‘Sense Technology, which “includes key features that enable unique gameplay experiences, such as headset feedback, eye tracking, 3D audio, and the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback from the PS VR2 Sense controllers. Together with compatible games they will captivate players’ senses and offer an incredibly deep feeling of immersion”. Furthermore, the new headset boasts “enhanced headset-based controller tracking and high fidelity visuals in 4000 x 2040 HDR video format (2000 x 2040 per eye)”.

At launch, two purchase options for the PlayStation VR2 system have been announced, which are:
