Take to the Skies of Canada in Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update XI: Canada

Microsoft Flight Simulator’s 11th world update is now live for PC and Xbox platforms, with it giving players an opportunity to fly over the skies of Canada and take in some of the sights with more handcrafted detail than before. This update is being made free to all owners of Microsoft Flight Simulator, including those who download the game as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. All players need to do is update their account, download World Update XI from the in-game marketplace and take flight.

According to the development team at Asobo Studio, “the Microsoft Flight Simulator team processed troves of its latest geospatial data, including digital elevation models, satellite imagery, and aerial photography”. In addition to the data, models and imagery that was rolled into the update, this update also introduces 12 urban regions enhanced with the latest photogrammetry data, features 87 hand-crafted points of interest, and the following additional features:

  • 5 handcrafted five airports including:
    • British Columbia’s Castlegar / West Kootenay Regional Airport (CYCG)
    • Victoria International Airport
    • Vancouver Island
  • 9 new missions
  • Three bush trips (Vancouver Island, Newfoundland, and the Canadian Rockies)
  • Three landing challenges (Castlegar, Barkerville, and Calgary)
  • Three discovery flights (Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto).
