Genshin Impact is being developed by Hoyoverse (Formerly MiHoYo) as a mostly single-player (with online multiplayer elements) open-world adventure game reminiscent of the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilds, albeit having deviated into many of its own individual ideas and concepts.
