Empyreum Housing Savage Commences in Final Fantasy XIV

It is perhaps the one thing that players fear more than the Savage and Ultimate Raids in Final Fantasy XIV, and that is securing a plot of land to call your own. Final Fantasy XIV features a comprehensive housing system for both players and Free Companies (The FFXIV version of guilds) to obtain that outshines pretty any other MMORPG on the market. However, there are only a limited number of housing plots players can own. This is not necessarily a bad thing on some quieter servers, but for those on servers like Tonberry or Balmung, it can truly earn the ‘Housing Savage’ moniker.

As of Patch 6.1, which launched yesterday evening, 24 wards, each comprising of 60 plots spread across two divisions were made available in the new Ishgard housing region – known as Empyreum. Being an area that has been highly in demand for the longest time, you can bet that there will be much demand for all small, medium and large plots in each of the wards – especially by Free Companies who, due to the unavailability of medium and large plots until now, will be hunting for larger plots of land to build the Free Company manor of their dreams.

Some new measures have been implemented to make housing acquisition more fair

Fortunately, even though we are almost 24-hours into the patches launch, don’t fret about having missed your opportunity to nab yourself a house. Patch 6.1 also offers an overhaul of how housing can be acquired, performed through additional restrictions to who can obtain a plot of land, the implementation of a lottery system for new plots, and further changes to how empty plots of land are managed. So, if you are eager to nab a plot of land for yourself or your free company, head in-game over the next couple of days to stake out and put a submission in for your desired house.
