New adventures await the Warriors of Light from today, with the official release of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the fourth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and the conclusion to an arc that has been running for more than a decade. The game’s North American, European and Japanese game servers are all now live, with Standard and Deluxe digital editions available to purchase on the PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The official release follows a three-day Early Access period which commenced on Friday evening for everyone who pre-ordered. While some on quieter servers like the one I am on (Kujata) doesn’t appear to have experienced much other than mildly inconvenient queues, those on the most popular servers still face extended log-in times and other issues. Of course, these tend to be par for the course with any MMORPG expansion launch, especially one which has only recently received a large influx of new players across its North American, European and Japanese servers. This was also exacerbated by the traditional new servers complementing the release of a new expansion pack, not being possible this time around. It resulted in a return to congested server statuses, the postponement of residential property demolition and an additional 7-days of game time being granted.
Some of the many new inclusions of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, coinciding with the release of the game’s 6.0 Patch, include:
- The next chapter of the Final Fantasy XIV storyline, which by its conclusion will bring the main arc to a close.
- The Introduction of two new playable jobs: Sage and Reaper
- New playable race: The Male Viera
- An increase in the game’s level cap from 80 to 90
- Two new hub cities (Old Sharlayan and Radz-at-Han), in addition to a range of new areas.
- Brand new dungeons, trials and (soon) the high difficulty raid series (Pandæmonium) and alliance raid series (Myths of the Realm)
